Synopsis
In northern Burma, an American cameraman films British troops of 36th Division on the road advancing towards Pinwe.
Chevrolet CMP approaching camera along a road through a wood with one man on the running board and another on the roof the cab. Light (Dodge?) lorry laden with troops passing. Another passes carrying kit. Jeep and lorry passing. A lone British soldier with rifle walks the road. Another lorry (named 'Margery') passes laden with troops. Mule train passes. More lorries pass. Lorries pass graves at the roadside. Close-up one of the grave crosses; '18 11 44 L/Cpl Evans T 5125265 SWB'. Major General Francis Festing, commander 36th Division, passes driving his jeep.
Notes
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) records a Lance Corporal Terence Douglas Lapworth Evans of 6th Battalion South Wales Borderers as being killed on 12 November 1944. He was 21, the son of John Harold and Minnie Evans of Erdington, Birmingham, and is now buried in the CWGCs Taukkyan War Cemetery.
