INDIAN GUNNERS IN ACTION AT THITYABIN

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: MWY 67).

Synopsis

Near Thityabin, Burma, Indian artillerymen fire 25-pounder field guns.

In an exposed position Indian gunners man 25-pounder guns. Various angles of guns being loaded and fired. One gun is sited close to a damaged-looking bamboo building on stilts.

Notes

This unit is probably 4th Indian Field Regiment of 19th Indian Division. This shoot presumably forms part of the division's operations on the Shwebo plain.

A murky and spotty print.

Series note: The MWY series of films is believed to be part of a ‘pool’ of film received by the Government of India from various sources, including South East Asia Command, the Indian Inter-Service Public Relations Directorate, the Ministry of Information, and from Allied governments. This footage would have been considered for editing and release through the Indian Newsreel Parade; see INR series.
