Synopsis

I. "To entertain the troops." a. Gracie Fields, back from a tour of the USA, is seen signing admirers' autograph books. b. Bob Hope, on a brief visit to Britain, entertains an Allied audience of American and British servicemen and women. Comedian gives a display of "hoofing" and cracks some jokes about Churchill's travels.

II. "Japs raid New Guinea dump." Australian soldiers help to roll clear barrels of fuel after an accurate aerial attack by the Japanese has set part of a fuel depot on fire. Attack is presented as a desperate attempt to stem the Allied advance.

III. "Ducks." DUKWs facilitate the landing of supplies on the coast of Sicily.

IV. "Cherryripe subdued." Baltimores bomb Centuripe before men of the 78 Division enter this Sicilian town unopposed.

V. "Allied aims by Pres. Roosevelt." Roosevelt broadcasts from his office: "Mussolini and his gang will be punished for their crimes against humanity.... Unconditional surrender from Italy, Germany and Japan... We shall not settle for less than total victory."
