III. "On the way." RAF Baltimores soften up the toe of the Italian boot in daylight raids after the invasion of Italy. Before that event, Montgomery is driven in a military camouflage car past his troops on parade in Sicily. Artillery opens up and in the dawn landing craft cross the Straits and land, "virtually unopposed." Casualties are brought back on landing craft.
