Present Gen Alfred M Grunther, Supreme Allied Commander Europe. 1st French Armoured Division led by Major General Andr De Metz. Taking part are US 1st and 4th Infantry Divisions, 2nd Armoured Division, 14th Armoured Cavalry Regiment, elements of US 12th Air Force, French units from 4th Allied Tactical Air Force and elements of US 5th Corps. Convoy includes 280mm atomic cannon. V - 'Exercise "Polar Mist" "Blatind" Maneuver 17 - 30 September 1954 Comlandnorway Allied Forces Northern Europe' - Infantry exercise in north Norway. Involved 6 Divisions and Brigade Groups of 2nd Allied Tactical Air Force, 4th Dutch Infantry Division and 6th British Armoured Brigade plus Belgian and Canadian Divisions and British Parachute Group. Exercise includes firing of 280 mm atomic cannon with mushroom cloud.
