Synopsis

I. "China aids growing Far East offensive." a. Chinese coolies construct airfields for the use of the USAAF using only manual labour. b. View of vast amount of supplies for use by MacArthur's forces. c. USAAF Flying Fortresses and Liberators bomb jungle positions at Salamaua (New Guinea), since reported captured.

II. "Churchills in US." ATS Subaltern Mary Churchill, in the USA with her parents, reviews a WACS marchpast and meets two women tennis stars. Her father is seen arriving to receive the degree of Doctor of Law at Harvard University; he afterwards addresses a parade of male and female students in uniform, emphasising the links between the USA and Britain and expressing his country's determination "never to tire or weaken."

III. "Thunderbolts speed Forts over Europe." Thunderbolts, fitted with extra fuel tanks and camera-guns, taxi before take off to rendezvous with Flying Fortresses bombing Germany. Camera-gun film records aerial shoot-ups.

IV. "The other man's job. The Sword of Stalingrad." Flashback to the victory at Stalingrad ("the genius of Marshal Stalin," "the invincible heroism of the Red Army") introduces item on forging of sword, a gift from George VI to the Russian city. Detailed views of sword.
