Synopsis
I. "The other man's job. How Army packs its punch." The packing of spare parts is "a fine art", a vital contribution to the Army's efficiency. Film shows care with which gun spares, shells etc are prepared and packed to withstand transport abroad and use in various climates.
II. "These men are heroes." Guests at a Warwork News lunch includes two VCs (Sergeant Major Hollis and Corporal Jefferson) and a GC who describe their acts of heroism to the camera.
III. "Allies prepare new offensive." a. USAAF Flying Fortresses take off from an airfield in China on their way to attack the centre of the Japanese steel industry. "Cities of the Far East are doomed to the fate of Hamburg and Berlin." b. RAF Lancasters bomb Duisburg by day and Brunswick (large fires) by night. c. 2nd Army resumes its offensive against the Scheldt pocket. Tanks and mortars fire; prisoners are brought in. d. King visits forces in Holland and is accompanied by Montgomery and Dempsey whom he knights. At an open-air ceremony he awards the CB to Lieutenant General G G Simonds of the Canadian 1st Army. Crowds in a liberated Dutch town welcome the King, who later departs for England by destroyer.
