Synopsis
I. "The other man's job. Gears for everything." Production of gears, showing casting and testing of gear wheels and assembly of gear units.
II. "World War over. Japan surrenders." Japan's bid for world domination was ended by the dropping of the second atomic bomb. Item traces course of Pacific War from Japan's rapid occupation of the area and capture of Hong Kong and Singapore ("Britain was compelled to drink the cup of humiliation to the dregs") to the retaliatory offensive launched by the Fourteenth Army in Burma, the USN's domination of the Pacific, aided later by the RN, MacArthur's island-hopping campaign and finally the USAAF bomber offensive against the enemy nation. Commentary states that "the atomic bomb will be made the force to end all wars." Film of Londoners celebrating victory in Piccadilly Circus and (with US servicemen) outside Buckingham Palace closes the newsreel.
