Synopsis
I. "The other man's job. It's cooler inside!" Manufacture of compressor units for use in refrigerators, refrigerated containers and air conditioning. Refrigeration kept food fresh and men healthy during the war. Item promises cheaper and better refrigerators for the public.
II. "Scientist praises the atom bomb." Speaking at a Foyle's Literary Luncheon Professor Patrick Thomson (who led British research on the atom bomb in 1940) says it was preferable to demonstrate the power of the weapon rather than let there be any doubt about its lethality, and concludes it is "on the side of peace and sanity."
III. "Berlin still 'going down'." Bulldozer demolishes unsafe bombed buildings. This will "ease the task of rebuilding when the time comes."
IV. "Borneo, the last phase."
Men of the 7th Australian Division land in Borneo and move inland. Oil centre of Balikpapan blazes after Japanese evacuation. General MacArthur later visits Borneo.
