Synopsis

I. "Streiflichter aus Deutschland." a. Alpine farmers moving with families and farm animals to higher summer pastures. b. Congress of German radio 'hams' in Bad Lauterberg (demonstrations and exercise; English guests). c. A cosmetic 'paint on' stocking effect, including fake seams (real thing still rationed).

II. Sport. a. Athletics in England. b. North Sea regatta from Cuxhaven. c. During a trotting race in California, a 62-year old driver dies of a heart attack.

III. "New style settlement." A Holsteiner's scheme for smallholder farming (example set up in Hamburg: each family owns small farm, groups of 12 farms sharing communal machinery etc co-operatively) offered as solution to food and housing problems.

IV. A soapbox derby in Wrttemberg.

V. "Palestine." A lengthy report including establishing shots of Jerusalem (while commentary explains situation); British troops leaving Haifa; Ben Gurion declares state of Israel (Moshe Shertok, foreign minister); maps; the Arab Kings and their armies; Jewish troops manning positions, searching Arabs; President Weizmann on visit to Washington; volunteers for Israel in Europe and illegal migrants interned in Cyprus; Count Bernadotte the UN mediator.
