Synopsis

I. "Viva Dutra!" Brazilian head of state visits USA: Broadway parade in New York, meets Truman in Washington (and cuts a large presentation birthday cake).

II. "Neues von der Technik." a. England: radio link up between railway control signal boxes and engine drivers as new safety precaution. b. Germany: demonstration of a new light motorcycle with special suspension. c. USA: 'baby alarm' and remote-control cradle-rocking invention.

III. London: Tate Gallery exhibition of works of art on loan from Vienna (including works by Holbein, Rembrandt, Titian, Cellini etc.).

IV. Malaya: ceremonies and pomp at the court of the Rajah of Perlis, with the British High Commissioner Sir Henry Gurney as guest of honour.

V. Foreign Ministers Conference in Paris Arrival of Bevin, Dean Acheson, Schuman, Vishinsky; scenes at the conference (commentary explains Germany and Austria top the agenda).

VI. Sport. a. Greyhound racing in Hamburg (rather primitive equipment, including hand-cranked 'hare'). b. A large bowling-alley in America. c. A sort of equestrian high-jump in Australia. d. Water-skiing stunts in Florida.
