Synopsis

I. Hong Kong. Arrival of British army reinforcements for the garrison in view of the Civil War situation in China; also arrival of European refugees from Shanghai.

II. "Persoenlichkeiten des Tages." a. Franklin D Roosevelt Jr (son of the late President) campaigns for and wins election to US Congress (film includes 1932 family photo). b. King Farouk of Egypt makes rare public appearance visiting a trade fair (with his very attractive sister).

III. Sport. a. Boxing: Hein Ten Hoff defeats 1936 Olympic champion Herbert Runge (victory is unpopular). b. Munich: motorcycle and car racing on airfield, in heavy rain.

IV. London teaching hospital installs remote-control television camera in operating theatre to enable more students to follow course of surgical operations.

V. "Streiflichter aus Deutschland." a. CARE parcels donated by US Railway workers are distributed among the rail workers on strike in Berlin. b. Film of a large poultry farm, with electric incubators producing thousands of chicks and ducklings.

VI. The Derby in England. Spectators include the Aga Khan with Rita Hayworth, and the Royal Family. The race ends in a photo finish.
