Synopsis
I. BONN. "Formation of Government accomplished; Occupation Statute replaces Military Government". Konrad Adenauer heads first government of German Federal Republic, is sworn in by Bundestag president Khler. Next day, Adenauer and his cabinet visit 3 Western High Commissioners at Petersburg: McCloy, Robertson and Francois-Poncet sign the Occupation Statute, formally ending the Allied Military Government. McCloy and Robertson both make statements of good wishes etc. in WiF interviews.
II. Football: Berlin lose ?-3 to Bavaria in the 'Land' cup.
III. "Streiflichter aus Deutschland." a. The Berlin-Hamburg express train ("Der fliegende Hamburger") resumes service. b. A river steamer on the Danube makes possible brief reunions for families separated by different administrations in Germany and Austria. c. North Sea shrimp-fishing boats' "regatta".
IV. Work starts in USA on third effort to build Tacoma suspension bridge (includes film of famous collapse of first bridge through wind-oscillation).
V. Examples of the work in adult education etc of the Volkshochschulen: art lecture; lessons in typing, English, elocution, radio etc.
VI. "Exotic sports" a. Indian yoga/gymnastics team in Germany. b. Barefoot Nigerian footballers in England.
