Synopsis

I. American Press visit to Germany: 12 journalists met at Munich by military government representatives, view 'Then & Now' exhibition at HQ, meet Bavarian council, visit Dachau camp and trials.

II. "Streiflichter aus Deutschland." a. Explosion disaster at former munitions factory in Celle. b. Cologne: Corpus Christi procession. c. Underground 1943 Wehrmacht medical supply dump near Fulda: stocks are removed and checked for civilian use. d. Berlin: steeplejacks at work repairing artillery-damaged church spire.

III. Paris: Foreign Ministers conference opens (Bevin, Molotov, Byrnes and Bidault).

IV. "Bilder aus aller Welt." a. New York police help provide recreational facilities for children (baseball etc; also a Hudson river boat trip). b. Spear-fishing off French coast. c. Sir Charles Brooks ("White Rajah" of Borneo) in Sarawak. d. Dancing elephant in circus in Austria. e. Outside "casual" film showing off Paris fashions.

V. Boxing in Germany: (heavyweight) Hein Ten Hoff beats Herbert Runge.

Issue completeness: the Museum's copy of WIF 59 has one item missing, according to the contents list held in the Film and Video Archive, which indicates that it covered the execution in Prague of Karl Hermann Frank.
