Synopsis
INTEREST - Travelogue. Shots of jungle, river, waterfalls and sea in Fiji (40); thatched huts built on stilts over a river, a man punting a canoe along, children and dogs on the platforms over the river (80); boy feeding a pig on a platform (91); group of mothers dressed in grass skirts with their babies (101); a woman and child in a canoe (120); a close-up of a girl (128); two girls in grass skirts, one dressing the other's hair (136); a young girl with a water pot (142); two boys with loads of wood on their backs which they carry to a canoe (159); they parade the canoe to the huts (172); a sailing boat - the "Gloria" (187); a collection of thatched huts built on stilts above the ground with villagers (202); one of the huts being built (247); a mother and baby (262); potters at work (319); a man being shaved (344); painting two youths' faces (434); a woman carrying a child on her back (445); a small child feeding a turtle in a shallow bowl of water (483); children eating melons (492); a man digging for land crabs which he takes home to his wife who kills them and puts them in the pot (580); white officials signing on natives (618); issuing them with cloth to wear (633); they embark on a boat and say goodbye to relations (683); the boat at sea (700); they arrive at a building (barracks?) and are issued with European clothes (736); men performing a seated song and dance (755); men digging a pit and lighting a fire in it - stones are then brought and laid on the fire (849); the hot stones are raked off by men with long sticks (968); the men then walk over the stones (992); the stones are then covered with green leaves which give off lots of smoke (1032 ft).
