Synopsis
INSTRUCTIONAL. The banana industry in Jamaica.
Credits (30). Views of the hillside and banana plantations (76). Branches are cut down and the bunches of bananas removed from the branches. Natives carry the bunches of bananas on their heads down to the riverside where they are loaded into rowing boats (288). At the quayside, Kingston, natives carry the bananas on their heads to the cargo boats. The bananas are loaded into the cargo boat's hold by using a human chain (562). At London docks, the bunches of bananas are unloaded by the use of belt conveyors (673). Close-up of the bunches of bananas travelling on the conveyors...(film incomplete). (710 ft).
