Empire on Display

From imperial exhibitions to Empire Day celebrations, these films illustrate some of the ways in which Britain imagined its Empire, organised its colonies and celebrated its position at the ‘heart of the Empire’. With the monarchy to the fore, the films show pageantry and celebrations designed to reaffirm and endorse the continuing productivity, strength and unity of the British Empire.
