Synopsis

Allied Air Commander-in-Chief, Air Marshal Sir Keith Park, visits Rangoon, Burma.

RAF ensign flying from a flagpole. Air Marshal Coryton (Air Officer Commanding RAF Burma) and Major-General Stratemeyer of the US Army Air Force (head of Eastern Air Command) at Mingaladon airfield, Rangoon, Burma. Air Vice Marshal the Earl of Bandon (Air Officer Commanding RAF 224 Group) with Stratemeyer. Coryton, Bandon and Stratemeyer inspecting bomb damage. View from a car approaching Government House in Rangoon. Meeting Air Vice Marshal Vincent (Air Officer Commanding RAF 221 Group). Park steps off a boat at Rangoon. Inspecting damaged dock facilities; in parts just piles of broken concrete and twisted metal. Close-up on some of the wreckage. Park arrives at Akyab and is greeted by Air Vice Marshal Brooks and other officers. Lady Park follows him. The party chatting. Park at the controls of a Short Sunderland flying boat en route to Rangoon. View of the Sunderland's wingtip floats. Sir Oliver Leese, commander Allied Land Forces South East Asia and accompanying Park, looks out from one of the Sunderland's beam gun positions. Footage from a motor launch heading upriver into Rangoon. Cranes, jetties and warehouses can all be seen in various states of repair. Coming ashore at Rangoon. Inspecting bomb damage at Rangoon University; the dopesheet adds that the University had been used as an HQ by the Japanese. Park examines a parachute that landed on a tree in the grounds of Government House.
