Synopsis

Men of an RAF Regiment Light Anti-Aircraft Squadron make an amphibious landing at Rangoon, Burma.

Group Captain Harold Pleasance, Air Liaison Officer for RAF 224 Group with XV Indian Corps, briefs a semicircle of seated RAF Regiment officers on upcoming operations against Rangoon. Two men hold up a map and Pleasance points out relevant positons. Officers and men of the RAF Regiment, heavily laden with equipment, march to their embarkation points. Their boots raise dust as they march off. Close-ups of some of the men. A pile of kitbags with men in the background. Close-up of the men as they march. Men board a steamer. Men waiting on a jetty. Onboard the ship the Squadron's Commanding Officer, Squadron Leader Swain, briefs his men. Some of the men wear lifebelts. Various shots of men listening to the briefing and a close-up of Squadron Leader Swain. Landing craft and support vessels. A Landing Craft, Infantry (Large) (LCI(L)) comes alongside and men board it from a doorway in the side of the ship's hull. The airmen are assisted by sailors. View from onboard the LCI(L); a man throws kitbags towards the camera. View from the bow of the ship looking back at the men on board. Some wear steel helmets, while others wear berets or bush hats and some are bare-headed suggesting they do not expect an opposed landing. A signaller on the bridge uses semaphore. Men looking over the edge of the landing craft. Other landing craft. Men disembarking; another LCI(L) passes in the background. Men disembarking down a ladder and wading ashore from LCI(L) 166 with LCI(L) 115 behind. An RAF Flight Sergeant helps men ashore. A chain of men passes kitbags from one to the next. Series of shots of an RAF Douglas Dakota transport aircraft dropping supplies by parachute, some of which land not far from the camera. Bundles hitting the ground. A Dakota flies low overhead and the camera pans left to follow it. Another bundle lands.
