Synopsis
Men of the Air Supply Company, Royal Indian Army Service Corps, packing a variety of material ready for delivery by parachute to troops in the field.
Onions loaded loose into wicker containers. Petrol tins loaded into wooden frames. Heavy hydraulic equipment shown fitted with heavy duty parachutes. Mail loaded into parachute bags. Local currency (rupees) needed to pay indigenous Burmese coolies also packed loosely into bags. Assam labourers shown leaving the airfield. RAF Douglas Dakota transport aircraft briefly being serviced.

During this period Operation Stamina was in progress. 'Stamina' was the codename for the maintenance by air of British IV Corps and the RAF on the Imphal plain 18 April - 30 June 1944. During this period some 12,000 reinforcements and 21,600 tons of supplies were flown in, and 13,000 casualties flown out. More than 7,000 sorties were flown. Sylhet, however, was used to supply Special Force who were then behind enemy lines. The unit seen therefore is either No. 2 Air Supply Company, Royal Indian Army Service Corps, or No. 61 Air Supply Company, Royal Army Service Corps.
