Synopsis
Aerial and ground footage of operations by RAF Bristol Beaufighter fighter-bombers based at Chiringa, Bengal Province, India (Bangladesh).
Aerial footage over a bay fringed with trees. Beaufighter 'Y' parked at dispersal. Aerial footage over Indian countryside and low over the sea. Aircraft interior looking towards the pilot at the controls. A Beaufighter takes off. Airborne footage; an explosion on a road in wooded country. Cannon attack on motor transport on a road. A steep and thickly wooded hillside. Air-to-air footage of a Beaufighter in flight over wooded terrain. Men leave a hut. Aircrew board an open lorry which drives to dispersal. A parked Beaufighter on a pierced steel plank (PSP) dispersal. An airman sees to his parachute harness while two mechanics wind over an engine. Beaufighter starts up. Interior tent; aircrew study a map and a briefing table. Aerial footage; a wooded hillside. Small buildings under cannon fire. More cannon attacks and rear-facing views of bombed targets.
Notes
This would appear to be the missing aerial component of a film started as ABY 30.
Based on ABY 30, the unit seen here is probably RAF 211 Squadron.
Some of the aerial footage suffers from vibration in varying degrees.
Inexplicably, dates on slates give the year as 1947, though this must be a mistake on the part of the cameraman.
