Synopsis

In Batavia, Dutch East Indies (Jakarta, Indonesia) a parade is mounted in honour of the birthday of Princess Beatrix.

Footage of the parade including a column of the Dutch Women's Services. A Dutch flag flying over a building. Crowds of civilians. A pipe band of the 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders in full regalia. More troops march past, including the RAF Regiment (probably 2962 Squadron), Dutch marines, and Indian Sikh and Punjabi troops. The salute is taken by Dr H J van Mook, Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies 1942 - 1948.

Notes

Princess Beatrix is now Beatrix, Queen of the Netherlands, having ascended to the throne on 30 April 1980 following the abdication of her mother, Queen Juliana.
