Synopsis

After monsoon weather washes away an RAF church five days before a special Thanksgiving Service, a new church is quickly built in its place.

Scaffolding is erected. Bamboo is beaten into strips and then spliced for use as building material. Floors covered in matting. Walls placed into position. Esparto grass is cut and transported in bundles by lorry for use as thatch after drying in the sun. Church roof is thatched. Shot of church notice board, a service in progress and the finished church.

An interesting example of religious observance in the field, and a study in traditional building techniques.
