Synopsis

Indian Air Force 1 Squadron is presented with a Japanese sword in recognition for its service to Fourteenth Army.

Ceremony at squadron's aerodrome in forward area. Sword is presented. Various shots of army on parade before the squadron. Major General D D Gracey, General Officer Commanding 20th Indian Division, gives short address, reads from the plaque and then inspects the squadron, commanded by Squadron Leader Arjan Singh DFC.

Notes

Squadron number obscured on dopesheet, but identifiable by name of commander, Squadron Leader Singh. At one point fuselage of Spitfire Mk V JL-319, struck off charge 23/9/1944, can be seen in the background. Some of the Army troops present appear to be Gurkhas.
