A film made expressly to show African Rhodesians that their 'chiefs' had gone to England. Two such visits were made, one in 1964, to India, Pakistan, Italy, the U.K. and South Africa. In 1965 they visited Portugal, Greece, the U.K. and South Africa. Thirty chiefs were sent, with the idea of learning about agriculture in other countries.
Places visited included London, Rhodes Museum (Bishop's Stortford), Rhodes House Library (Oxford), Cattle Breeding Station (Shinfield), London Zoo, Blenheim Palace Horse Show, various stately homes, Gallaher's cigarette factory (Manchester), growing tomatoes, Commonwealth Relations Office, Trooping the Colour.
Production / Donor Details: The Rhodesia Collection was donated by the journal Rhodesians Worldwide and contains a number of films purchased from the collection of Henry Berriff, a cameraman in the Central African Film Unit. The collection contains amateur and professionally produced titles.
